FWDA needs your help by identifying nominees for the 2013-2014 ballot. We need nominations for President-Elect, Treasurer, Nominating/Awards Committee, and Chair of Professional Issues (Spring Seminar). We are looking for nominees who want to shape the future of FWDA by serving on our governing board. Please consider nominating yourself or your colleagues who are members of FWDA for these positions.

2012-2013 Nominations & Awards Committee

President-Elect
The President-Elect will serve for one (1) year and at the end of this term the President-Elect
will become President. The President-Elect will:
•
Serve as a member of the Board of Directors and its Executive Committee.
•
Perform the functions of the office of president in the president’s absence or when the president is unable to perform the functions of the president as determines by the Board of Directors
•
Appoint the committee co-chairs for legislative and public policy, public relations and career guidance
•
Serve as membership program chair to plan programs and submit information for continuing education
•
Maintain documentation as required by the Commission on Dietetic Registration in order for FWDA to maintain their CDR Provider status
•
Prepare certificate of attendance for each educational meeting when FWDA is the CDR Provider
•
During the last quarter of the fiscal year, prepare list of appointees who will serve as Committee Chairs during term as President; submit motion to the Board of Directors for approval of appointments during the last meeting of the Board of Directors prior to assuming the office of President
•
Perform other duties as designated by the Board of Directors
Treasurer
The Treasurer shall serve for two (2) years. The Treasurer will:
•
Serve as a member of the Executive Committee, Board of Directors and Chair the Finance Committee
•
Have all other powers and duties usually vested in a treasurer, including custody of all funds and securities of the Association.
•
See that full and accurate financial records are kept and audited annually.
•
Report the financial status of the Association to the Board of Directors at monthly meetings with a copy of the Budget Overview; ledger is available upon request.
•
Report the financial status to the FWDA membership.
•
Prepare and present budget to the Board of Directors for approval.
•
Collect and receive dues and other moneys for the Association.
•
Work with Website Committee Chair to coordinate use of PayPal for membership dues and registration fees for Scholarship Events and Spring Seminar.
•
Submit all annual reports to the Internal Revenue Service and the Texas Comptroller of Public Accounts on or before deadlines as indicated by the appropriate state and federal agency.
•
Have all other powers and duties usually vested in a treasurer.
Nominating/Awards Committee
Composed of three (3) members elected by the membership, shall serve for one (1) year.
The committee member receiving the most votes shall act as chair.
The Chair of the Nominating/Awards Committee shall:
•
Serve on the Board of Directors
•
Coordinate the nomination and application process for Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, and FWDA awards
•
Call at least one meeting of the Committee to formulate a slate of nominees for each FWDA elected office to appear on the ballot
•
Transmit the slate of nominees to the Secretary
•
Work with FWDA Website Chair to coordinate election via Survey Monkey or current electronic process
Chair of Professional Issues
Is elected by the FWDA Membership. The Chair of Professional Issues:
•
Serves as a member of the Board of Directors
•
Serve as team leader in developing the Annual FWDA Spring Seminar
•
Works with FWDA Treasurer by providing names and payment information so Treasurer can send invoices to sponsors and exhibitors, as well as payment to speakers
•
Submits tentative program to the BOD of directors for approval
